LINKages Society is a rapidly growing, charitable organization that pairs youth and seniors in long term mutually beneficial relationships. Our programs promote healthy interaction, generational connection, the exchange of knowledge and skills, validation of self worth and improved self esteem for both youth and seniors alike.
Calgary is currently experiencing a rising tide of seniors, as 2011 marked the first wave of baby boomers turning 65. The need for intergenerational programming is at an all time high as Calgary’s senior population is growing at a pace never seen before.
LINKages Society impacts the lives of hundreds of youth and seniors per year, through the pursuit of our mission; to foster interactions that promote friendships and understanding between youth and older adults. During this year’s Scotiabank Marathon, join us as together we will run, walk and talk about making Calgary an age friendly community where youth and older adults connect for social contact, support and learning.
A LINKages Youth Testimonial:
“We may have different perspectives of the world, but this only gives us more to learn about each other- it’s the chance to learn, to grow and to create friendships that will transcend the years”.
From our LINKages staff, Board of Directors and above all the youth and seniors, thanks for your support and for taking steps to improve the lives of Calgarians.
