We would love for you to help! We are fundraising for residential solar systems to be installed in rural Nicaragua. Currently, the villagers are not connected to the electrical grid and are using kerosene as a source of light in their houses after the sun goes down. It is dim, inefficient, toxic to breath, and also very expensive to purchase. They have asked for support and we are responding. We are fundraising for the equipment for solar systems. We have offered loans to over 55 households and 8 commercial businesses. There are many more families in the region!

We believe that education is the solution to end poverty. A feature of Canadian Humanitarian programs is the long-term commitment to the student for support, as long as they make the effort to attend and work hard at school. We measure our success by the number of children in CH programs who grow up to be successful, contributing members of their community. We assess the sustainability of our projects over generations. Our graduates will contribute to their communities, and their children will not need our programs. Their children will never know the crushing poverty that would have been their destiny.

Family homelessness is on the rise in Calgary; this is a crisis of epidemic proportions. It is our mission to create a community where no child or family is homeless and we can only achieve this goal with your help. We are 70% funded through the generosity of Calgarians, and your support means vulnerable families get the shelter, sanctuary and healing they need.

We know that good health is the complete state of physical, mental, emotional and economic well-being. We cannot enjoy whole health when we are hungry, when we are in chronic pain, when we don’t have a roof over our head, when we feel disconnected from our community, when we are living in poverty. And fixing one of these issues while ignoring the rest is just a band-aid solution.
Our health, housing and food programs support our most vulnerable neighbours, tackling tough health and social issues head-on, and our preventative, cost-effective programs save millions in taxpayer dollars by moving people from poverty to stability and from crisis to wellness. Help make a significant difference to the direct needs of those who need it most in our city.
