The Scotiabank Charity Challenge unites the spirit of runners with a unique fundraising program to help create a stronger future for young people and build vibrant communities.

Make your run more meaningful by helping one of our official Charities reach their goals while you are achieving yours!  Set up a fundraising page or make a direct donation during your race registration.  As Scotiabank covers all the fees associated with online fundraising, 100% of the funds raised will go directly to your chosen charity.

AARCS is a non-profit organization that relies on the generosity of the public to help cover the costs of all our expenses, the majority being veterinary care for our animals. While we have the manpower, drive and ambition, financial support is essential to cultivate and maintain not only the basic costs, but to further develop our programs and initiatives. Alberta Cancer Foundation

Every day, 53 Albertans hear the words “you have cancer.” These aren’t just statistics, these are our families, our friends, and our neighbours. Join us to support the 17,000 Albertans that are diagnosed with cancer every year across the province. Run for your mother, your father, a grandparent, a sibling, a friend, or even a stranger. The money raised will be donated to the area of greatest need. Please feel free to create your own cancer conquering t-shirts and get others involved! We hope that you will join us to make more moments for Albertans facing cancer.

Alberta Guide Dogs

Alberta Guide Dogs breeds, raises and professionally trains Guide Dogs with individuals (13+ years old) who are blind or visually impaired and Autism Support Dogs for children (ages 3 - 10) with moderate to profound autism and their families. It takes up to $35,000 and more than two years to train each dog. At all time we meet or exceed international standards as established by the International Guide Dog Federation and Assistance Dogs International. 

Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan

The Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan’s vision is a “world without Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.” Until we get there, our promise is to empower people to live well with dementia.  Dementia is the most compelling health risk facing Saskatchewan’s aging population. Raising sufficient funds is critical to continuing our support, education, awareness, and research efforts. Breast Cancer Supportive Care is committed to optimizing and integrating care for breast cancer patients and their families, including those at significantly increased risk of developing breast cancer due to identified genes. BCSC focuses on the physical, mental, emotional, relational, practical and spiritual challenges which patients and their families can face. Breast cancer patients and their families can access our clinic at any point with or without a referral. Our services are free of charge.

Our vision is to see a day when no child is abused. We believe this can only become a reality if every person understands that they have the power to stop this horrific crime, help victims of child abuse, and keep children safe from harm.  One in three Canadians report experiencing some form of child abuse.  Child abuse has happened before and is happening here, now, in your neighbourhood—maybe even to someone you know. Help prevent it from happening to someone else.  Together, let's end the cycle of child abuse.

Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society

The Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society (CFBTS) is a registered non-profit charity organization supported by 1400+ professional Calgary Firefighters. We are comprised of a 5 member Executive supported by a Board of Directors and numerous other volunteers. 

Canadian Adaptive Snowsports (CADS) Calgary

CADS Calgary provides opportunities for people with disabilities to experience the joy of participating and competing in alpine snowsports. CADS does this by developing and promoting adaptive snowsports through partnerships, training, and instructor certification programs.   Our Mission: Create a positive, inclusive community for persons with disabilities and their families through removing barriers to experience adaptive winter sports.   Our Vision: To develop a community of life-long, passionate adaptive skiers and snowboarders at ski areas everywhere. 

Canadian Aniridia Foundation

Our Foundation is focused on awareness, research and support for individuals with Aniridia, a rare genetic disease that effects eye development. Aniridics face a spectrum of vision impairing conditions and ocular degeneration resulting in blindness. Few treatment options are available and support systems are inadequate. Our hope is that advanced research will improve the quality of life for Aniridics helping them to successfully manage this complex disease, and eventually leading us to a cure.

Canadian Humanitarian

Canadian Humanitarian's (CH) Mission is to help disadvantaged children break free from the cycle of poverty.  With the help of our donors, we are empowering children to break their own cycle of poverty one child at a time.  CH enrolls the poorest of the poor in our projects in Ethiopia and supports the child with their education through to post-secondary education, providing the necessities of life and the environment and opportunity to reach their potential.

Join the Canadian Women’s Foundation as we run or walk in the Calgary Marathon and help us reach our goal of $10,000! The Canadian Women’s Foundation is Canada’s public foundation for women and girls. Funds raised will support programs across Canada that address four urgent issues: prevention of gender-based violence, women’s economic development, girls’ empowerment, and inclusive leadership. Since 1991, the Canadian Women’s Foundation has raised more than $80 million, funded programs in more than 1,500 communities, and supported women’s shelters across Canada.

Canadians Sharing Locally and Globally

Canadians Sharing Locally and Globally is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people in rural South India and in select disaster struck areas around the world. We are an entirely volunteer charity and 100% of the donations are invested in the purchase of medicine, medical and educational equipment and the provision of scholarships for K- 12 and for nursing students. Many children come from families who have never had the opportunity to go to school. These first generation learners will help alleviate family poverty and create the foundation for social change. Cassie and Friends Society

You’re invited to join Cassie and Friends as we run and walk to raise funds for kids and families affected by Juvenile Arthritis (JA) and other rheumatic diseases in Alberta.   Last year, we raised almost $10,000 thanks to your dedication and hard work. One child is born in Canada every 4 hours with cerebral palsy. It is not a disease - it is the most common disability among children, and there is NO CURE. Delta West Academy Foundation

The Delta West Academy Foundation (DWAF) is Funding the Future for all of our students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. We are a parent-run organization responsible for choosing the fundraising activities, organizing volunteers and distributing the funds based on a school wish list.  DWAF efforts support our school community with scholarships, special projects such as our recent investment in robotics, events such as skiing, rockclimbing and swimming lessons, and long-term building funds.  Go Dragons! 

Discovery House Family Violence Prevention Society

Discovery House is a non-profit organization providing a continuum of care to women and their children fleeing domestic violence. We facilitate transitional housing, offering longer-term, safe places for women and children to call home while they begin rebuilding their lives. We provide mothers access to counselling, support and programs to ensure they never return to abusive partners. We work directly with children, to mitigate the effects of trauma and prevent the cycle from repeating.

Easter Seals Alberta

Our four main pillars that help make this possible, including:  - Easter Seals Camp Horizon provides subsidized five-day summer camps and respite weekends for Albertans with disabilities and medical conditions.  - Through the Equipment and Support Services (ESS) program, we provide critically needed mobility equipment to those who qualify both physically and financially. This includes a NEW home automation program which enables an individual even more independence while continuing to live safely in their home.  - The Phyllis Davidson Easter Seals Scholarship Program which offers Alberta students with physical disabilities, scholarships for post-secondary education.  

Engineering Ministries International Canada

Engineering Ministries International Canada is a non-profit Christian development organization mobilizing volunteer architects, engineers, surveyors, and other design professionals who provide their skills to help children, families, and communities around the world step out of poverty and into a world of hope.

Epilepsy Association of Calgary

At the Epilepsy Association of Calgary, we're passionate about supporting people whose lives have been touched by epilepsy, and we're on a mission to eliminate the fear and misunderstanding so commonly associated with epilepsy, by providing the public with the knowledge and skills needed to recognize and assist with a seizure.  We hope you'll join us in reaching our $15,000 goal.    EPILEPSY - LET'S CRUSH THE STIGMA!

Fresh Start Recovery Centre

Calling all walkers & runners - join Fresh Start and  help us reach our team goal of 100 participants. Come join our family & friends and get the heart pumping. Challenge yourself and reach a new goal by running, walking or push a stroller and show your support in making a difference in the lives of others.  All it takes is a few to make a difference and you are one of those few!   Funds raised will support men in treatment and families from community who participate in our Family Healing Program.

Every dollar raised for Inn from the Cold makes a world of a difference to children and families in crisis. International Justice Mission Canada

International Justice Mission Canada is part of a global organization that protects the poor from violence throughout the developing world. IJM partners with local authorities to rescue victims of violence, bring criminals to justice, restore survivors, and strengthen justice systems. IJM combats everyday violence, including slavery, sex trafficking, sexual violence, police abuse of power, theft of land and citizenship rights abuse.

Kerby Centre

Kerby Centre is a not-for-profit organization, committed to enhancing the lives of older adults. Since 1973, Kerby Centre has evolved into one of Canada’s flagship agencies; setting the standard for older adult services, information, & programming.  Serving more than 25,000 people in 2017, Kerby Centre strives to assist older adults to live as well as possible, for as long as possible, as residents in the community. KidSport Calgary & Area

Unfortunately, the need for KidSport funding is not decreasing. On a daily bases the office is filled with applications of parents wishing to have their kids approved so they can get Sally into Soccer and Mohammed into Baseball. In 2018, KidSport Calgary and Area estimates that over 5,500 kids will be approved for funding and over $1.5 million will be distributed to local sport clubs in our community to fund kids sport registration fees. Help us raise over a $1.5 million and help give these qualified kids the opportunity for sport that they otherwise wouldn't have.

Every 23 minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer in Canada. The LLSC is an organisation dedicated to blood cancers. We provide free information and support services to patients and caregivers. Our mission: cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma and improve quality of life for patients and families. Our focus is finding cures because there isn't a warning system for blood cancer diagnosis; no screening, no early detection and no prevention.

Meow Foundation

MEOW Foundation is a specialized cat-focused registered charity and humane society with a no-kill mandate. We rescue and facilitate the adoption of stray and abandoned cats into new, loving permanent homes. We work hard to ensure that each MEOW cat is matched with the best possible home based on his or her personality, history, habits and individual needs.

Outrun Rare

Outrun Rare is an initiative founded by Alberta Ultra Marathoner Dave Proctor to raise funds for the Rare Disease Foundation. Dave Proctor attempted to run across Canada in 2018 fuelled by a desire for a better life for his son Sam who has a rare disease called RECA. The Rare Disease Foundation's mandate is to support the rare disease community through research, access, support and outreach. Together we can make a difference.

The Pet Access League Society (PALS) is a non-profit organization providing regular pet therapy visits to senior citizens, children, teenagers and adults at over 60 facilities in Calgary including hospitals, emergency and domestic violence shelters, libraries, schools and the airport.   Through pet therapy, PALS is helping to improve the mental, physical, social and emotional health of the over 31,000 Calgarians it visits every year free of charge through utilizing at network of over 400 volunteers.

SCI Alberta

SCI Alberta is proud to race in the Scotiabank Charity Challenge in conjunction with the Calgary Marathon 2018.  It is a one of a kind opportunity for SCI Alberta to fund-raise in support of individuals with spinal cord injuries around the Calgary area.  Each team will be raising funds for the programs and services that support our clients directly which includes Rehab Services, Community Development, Peer Programming, Information Services & our Fitness Center.

SouthWest Communities Resource Centre

The SouthWest Communities Resource Centre (SWCRC) provides resources, information, referrals, counselling, education and prevention programs to support vulnerable families living in south Calgary.  We provide supports that  help our neighbours deal with daily stressors, develop a sense of belonging, learn new skills and build on individual strengths enabling parents to deal with future adversity.  We are a warm and welcoming space in S.W. Calgary that celebrates individual strengths, diversity and community engagement. 

Stanley Jones School

The Stanley Jones School and Alice Jamieson Academy aim to provide the supports necessary to enhance the learning environment for all students. We provide the foundation to allow each student to thrive academically, physically and socially. Our school motto is Learn – Lead – Achieve.  All the funds raised through the marathon will go to school programs. This is one of a limited number of fundraising activities initiated by the parent association.

Start2Finish

START2FINISH’S MISSION IS TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF CHILD POVERTY BY PROVIDING ONGOING EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT TO CANADA’S AT RISK CHILDREN THROUGHOUT THEIR SCHOOL YEARS, NURTURING MIND, BODY AND SOCIAL HEALTH SO THEY ARE EMPOWERED TO SUCCEED AND BECOME ROLE MODELS FOR CHANGE.

The SHARP Foundation

Established in 1990, the SHARP Foundation is a Calgary-based non-profit organization committed to providing a continuum of care including housing, healthcare, and support to those living with HIV or at the highest risk of contracting HIV.  The SHARP Foundation mission is for each person living with HIV/AIDS will have housing and support to meet their needs.

The University of Calgary - David Stather Memorial Fund

Dr. David Stather Memorial Award was created to honour the memory of a great physician and a friend. David was widely recognized as a colleague who practiced medicine to the highest clinical and academic standards. He cared deeply about the wellbeing of his patients, and made a difference with commitment, expertise and compassion. Donations to this award are supporting The Canadian Outcomes Registry for Chest Procedure. This is a national database created in collaboration with all the specialists in Interventional Pulmonary Medicine across Canada to collect information on procedures with the goal of improving care to patients with lung diseases

Wellspring Calgary is a warm and welcoming community that provides a comprehensive range of support, resources and programs to those living with cancer and their caregivers.  Wellspring helps those affected by cancer address the fear, isolation, and practical problems cancer brings to their lives.  

Women's Centre of Calgary

The Women’s Centre provides a safe and supportive space accessed by thousands of women in Calgary. We offer women opportunities to both receive and provide support, connect with others and build community through a variety of programs. We offer everything from personal hygiene products to yoga workshops to summer camps for girls. While the Centre is open to all women, 52% of the women who visit are living in poverty. Your support will go directly to providing for women's basic needs in your community.
